Gabriel vs The Iris (Mandela Catalogue vs Gemini Home Entertainment)

Gabriel, the deceiver of mankind from Mandela Catalogue.

The Iris, the hungry eye from Gemini Home Entertainment.

Earth is a wonderful place for life to bloom, but these creatures desire nothing but death for the human race. But which one of these malevolent beings will be the one to claim victory? Will Gabriel's deceit end this planet's reign? Or will The Iris send the false angel back to hell? Also, they are not alone. Join me, as we will see who will win a Death Battle!

Before we begin, I am getting my sources from the main series they come from.
I also will be getting stuff from other sources, like their respective wiki pages...
Other sources include...

Now that this is out of the way, let's get it!!!

Background

Gabriel

In the beginning...there was nothing. Until suddenly, God created the world. He created animals, plants, and us as we know it! But...something is different. In the series called Mandela Catalogue, we see retellings of what we normally see within the Bible. Here enters Gabriel. Or Satan imposing as the angel named...well, Gabriel. His plan would take course in the beginning, where he would deceive Adam and make him eat the forbidden fruit.

Throughout history, Gabriel has been there, changing things little by little, like spawning the first Alternate to eliminate Noah. Eventually, his plans would turn out to be successful, as he finally prevented the birth of Jesus and overthrew God and took his place in history. Humanity is finally within his grasp.

We go to the present day. It's the analog era. And suddenly, in the counties of Wisconsin, there seem to be entities going around called "Alternates" who are eliminating people little by little. These creatures trace back to Gabriel, who is the mastermind behind it all. So, stay home, lock all doors and windows, and have access to a firearm or any ranged weapon at all times, as they won't stop until everyone you know is gone.

The Iris

Ah, our solar system. A place full of many different and bizarre planets. We have Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, The Iris- WAIT WHAT?! What is that??? Well, the Iris is essentially a living planet that has infiltrated our Solar System. It attempted to mutate Jupiter but was unsuccessful. It instead went after Neptune, which it was successful in mutating. It then uses Neptune to fire a beam towards Earth to send its creations to us.

We get to the present day, which is the analog era. Throughout North America, there seems to be something strange. Weird spider-like beings called Woodcrawlers are tunneling beneath the earth and replacing humans with fake humans. Some of these creatures are even in the ocean. Along with this, there is a new type of disease called deep root disease, which is slowly infecting humanity, turning them into conscious plants, ready to birth new creatures.

So take your families to your bunker, as your home does not belong to you anymore. Earth will soon become the Hungry Eye's next meal, and there is nothing we can do.

Experience and Intelligence

Gabriel

Gabriel has been on Earth since the very beginning. Probably even before the universe was born. This gives him knowledge beyond mortal understanding, as when humans are told this knowledge, they don't feel so good.

Gabriel doesn't really do much, as he usually has his minions do the dirty work for him. Though he can come down and probably fight for himself. All we do know is that Gabriel's deception is great, as he was able to fool humanity for many, many years. Along with him even overthrowing God!

The Iris

We do not know when The Iris came to be. Nor when they entered our solar system. But we do know that it has some great knowledge of humanity, as it even knows how humans behave and how to infiltrate homes. It even has knowledge of other planets, as it has even infected Neptune.

The Iris seems to have a plan of sending its minions to slowly infect the planet before coming in and taking it under its control. It is unknown how long this takes.

Powers and Abilities

Gabriel

M.A.D (Metaphysical Awareness Disorder)

Metaphysical Awareness Disorder is an illness transferred by verbal information that is not desired to be known. This has a suicide rate among victims of 97%. If you can't tell already based on that description, it makes the victim end their life promptly. It mainly works if the target has a strong belief in religion, philosophies, etc. Including if they have an immense fear of something. Gabriel and his Alternates utilize this on their victims.

Shapeshifting

Just like Gabriel's creations, Gabriel can shapeshift his body into others or into a new form. For example, his most well-known transformation is his angel form, and he was the snake from Adam and Eve.

Voice Mimicry

He can mimic the voices of other people. Namely, when he posed as O'Brien and tricked Dave into coming to the Church of Gabriel.

Flight/Teleportation

Gabriel can fly or levitate. He can also teleport. Even though it looks kinda goofy.

Darkness Manipulation

Telepathy

He can seemingly talk through the mind, imposing as Thatcher's intuition.

Telekinesis

Probably Gabriel's only combat ability shown thus far. He was able to gouge Dave's eyes out and possibly explode his brain.

Summoning/Creation

Gabriel is implied to be the creator of the Alternates. He seemingly created an Alternate to go after Noah after he resisted his message.

BFR

It is implied that Gabriel actually sent Jesus into a "sandy tomb." In which this sandy tomb in question contains infinite sand. At first, it was questionable if he could do this. But in Volume 5, he sends a Shepherd into an endless desert, as shown above. It even matches the description of Jesus' tomb. Even down to the chains on his legs.

Hive Mind

Gabriel is established to be the creator of the Alternates. In his vinyl figure, he is even stated to be the hivemind leader!

The Iris

Disease Manipulation

The Iris seemingly can "mutate" or infect other planets. It mutated Neptune, as shown above. It also seems to have created Deep Root Disease. To put it shortly, it is an infection transmitted by Woodcrawlers that basically turns your body into an immobile plant called "Nature's Mockery." Oh, and by the way, you are fully conscious while this process happens.

Weather Manipulation

As seen above, it is implied that the Great Red Spot on Jupiter was the after-effects of the Iris trying to mutate the planet, in which it failed. In short, the Iris created a MASSIVE storm on the planet that pretty much never goes away...at least for another few decades.

Technology Manipulation

The Iris is responsible for the weird hijacking in the Gemini Home Entertainment channel (the in-universe TV channel btw) and has been shown to speak through technology, as shown above.

Summoning/Creation

The Iris is the creator of the Woodcrawlers and Gardeners, who are the creatures that invaded Earth. It also seemed to have created The Wretch.

Telepathy

The Iris seems to be able to communicate through the mind, as "Jack" heard something from space.

Teleportation

The Iris is seen teleporting to Earth in Lethal Omen. It is unknown if the Iris can do this or not, but we do see it approaching Earth in Joseph's dreams, in which its current location was near Neptune, so it had to teleport to reach Earth that quickly.

Energy Projection/Light Manipulation

The Iris commanded Neptune to fire a beam of light towards Earth, which seemed to have sent its creations to Earth.

Dream Manipulation/Sleep Manipulation

Joseph Allen has dreams about The Iris coming to Earth. It seemingly caused her to have these. She hasn't woken up yet.

Hive Mind

As the creator of the Woodcrawlers and Gardeners, it seemingly is the center of the hivemind. Speaking of a hivemind...

Armies

Gabriel

Alternates

The Alternates are the creations of Gabriel that are made to wipe out humanity. Appearing in the analog era, these demons started to impersonate and kill a massive number of people in 4 counties in Wisconsin. There are 3 types of alternates, which are listed below.

Type 1: Doppelganger: Perfect copies of human beings. Nearly unidentifiable or impossible to differentiate.

Type 3: Flawed Impersonators/Overdriven Assimilations: Extremely flawed copies of the human counterpart. It also could have missing or exaggerated features like a longer neck, half a face, an upside-down body, etc.

Type 4: Tulpa: Alternates are spawned from the imagination of a person, which are mainly children. These can be manifested through TVs or mirrors.

Powers/Abilities

  • Madness Manipulation: (Through M.A.D)
  • Shapeshifting: (Depending on the type, they can turn into different humans)
  • Incorporeality: (Stated to "exist on different spectrums")
  • Flight: (Some of them seem to be able to fly)
  • Hive Mind: (As established before, they are all part of a hive mind)
  • Voice Mimicry: (Alternates can mimic people's voices after taking their form, though to varying degrees)
  • Body Control: (Some types of Alternates have control over their bodies, which leads to stuff like bigger heads or longer arms)
  • Fear Manipulation: (Alternates can create immense fear within people...NO DUH)
  • Telepathy: (Alternates know many secrets within the universe that are not desired to be known. Which creates M.A.D. It also seems some Alternates can affect the mind, like what N did to Jude Murray.)
  • Imagination Manipulation (Type 4): (Type 4 Alternates manifest from the imagination of others.)
  • Image Teleportation (Type 4): (Type 4 Alternates can manifest through TVs and Mirrors, and even travel through them. This led to the TV and Mirror destruction order later on.)

The Intruder (or 6)

Part of Gabriel's army, The Intruder seems to be a unique and mysterious force that has caused the disappearances of thousands of kids. This led to the TV and Mirror Destruction Order. However, it was ruled out that this thing is an Alternate. Weird.

Powers/Abilities

  • Shapeshifting: (The Intruder can seemingly change his form, as he took on the persona of "Stanley" to trick kids into summoning Alternates, or usually takes the form of a man)
  • Incorporeality: (Stated to exist on multiple spectrums)
  • Technology Manipulation: (Can travel, appear, and affect different technologies like TVsmonitors, or GPS trackers)
  • Invisibility: (Can appear invisible, as he was the one tampering with a corpse)
  • Subjective Reality: (Can create Alternates through the minds of individuals or children)
  • Fear Manipulation: (Can inflict fear in victims, even making a police officer feel an "overwhelming sense of dread")
  • Multilocation: (Seems to be able to appear in multiple places at once, as he caused 3,426 kids in 4 separate counties to go missing.)

Mystifying Oracle Demon

You may be wondering, why is this here? Isn't this part of a different series? Well, Mystifying Oracle was another series created by Alex Kister. It was originally its own thing, but now it is a canon spin-off to Mandela Catalogue. And the demon inside the Ouiji Board could very well be one of Gabriel's creations. But anyway, this demonic creature exists within a 1972 Parker Brothers Ouiji Board. It had owners, but it slowly drove them to madness and killed those around them. It has a new owner named Joel Haynes, who has been tormented by this demon for months.

Powers/Abilities

The Iris

Woodcrawlers/Gardeners

These alien-like creatures were sent by The Iris to infiltrate Earth. Instructed to invade homes and replace the people within with copies. They will stop at nothing to destroy and fool humanity.

Powers/Abilities

The Wretch

On Moonlight Acres Family Campgrounds, a man named Glenn Arthur shot a bear and decided to sacrifice it to The Iris in place of a human sacrifice. The Iris got mad that it wasn't a human sacrifice, so it proceeded to reanimate and mutate the bear into a giant creature that terrorized the campgrounds. It would take people from their cabins to absorb them into its body.

Scaling

Gabriel

Alternates

Since Gabriel is the creator of these Alternates, he should reasonably scale above them.

The Iris

Woodcrawlers/Gardeners

Just like Gabriel, The Iris created the Woodcrawlers and Gardeners, so it should scale above them.

The Wretch

Again, due to it creating The Wretch, it should scale above it.
  • It seemed to have broken into a cabin and killed some of the people inside. (Wall-Possibly Small Building)

Weaknesses

Gabriel

While Gabriel is a mastermind who has fooled humanity from the start, he does have his weaknesses. M.A.D can be avoided, as if you are in the 3% margin of people affected by M.A.D, you won't be affected. Alternatively, if one can see past the delusions created by M.A.D, they won't be affected as much.

Along with this, Gabriel seems to be extremely arrogant and cocky and usually sends his minions to do all the work for him. On top of that, his process of eliminating humanity has been rather...slow. Only really dwindling down populations of people within 4 different counties over many years.

The Iris

The Iris is crazy powerful, being able to mutate whole planets, but like all things, it has weaknesses. Due to the vagueness of Gemini Home Entertainment, it is difficult to determine how long it takes for the planets to mutate. But by doing some guessing, it probably takes a while, as Earth hasn't gotten mutated yet. Additionally, it can't infect certain planets. For example, Jupiter.

Just like Gabriel, it seems to be cocky, as it is said it is "laughing at us." It seems to underestimate its foes. And like Gabriel, it sends its minions to do the work before it comes.

Before the Verdict

Should Gabriel be scaled above God?

Now, one of the main things that is tricky about Gabriel is that one of his main feats that he did was that he overthrew God and took his place within history. But here is the problem. This was off-screen, and we don't even know if we can buy this or not. But a closer examination of his other feats can help us see if we can quantify this or not.

So basically, in the series as of now, he has control over 4 counties within Wisconsin. Now, you would think with all that god-like power that he would have taken over the whole world. It is also kinda established time and time again that these are the only counties affected by Gabriel and the Alternates. This is a HUGE low showing of his feat. So it should be even harder to quantify. Also, this could very well be another one of his lies. He is the deceiver after all.

So, short answer: He does not scale to God, most likely.

Can M.A.D affect Woodcrawlers/Gardeners?

One of the tricky parts of this debate comes down to these factors. Can the Alternate's main way of attacking kill the Woodcrawlers? Now, Woodcrawlers actually can feel fear and anxiety, as shown in Home Invasion Help. One of the main things that requires M.A.D to work is if the target has immense fear. With this, Alternates can utilize this fear and stress to use against them.

Along with this, the Alternates and the Intruder's ability to instill fear within enemies should be able to cause some level of fear within these creatures. So theoretically, yes, it should be able to work.

Can the Deep Root Disease affect Alternates?

Now, similar to earlier, we have to talk about one of the main things about this matchup. Can the Woodcrawler's Deep Root Disease affect Alternates? When looking at the Deep Root Disease, we see that it is transferred through the Woodcrawler's proboscis. It then creates a root, which then turns into a bulb, which spreads its roots throughout the skin, conjoining bone and muscle, which immobilizes a victim. It then turns them into a plant called "Nature's Mockey."

Looking at how this process is done...theoretically, it can work on the Alternates. Since they have a physical body and be able to be affected by things like bullets and whatnot. We even see an Alternate take knockback by a bullet. Deep Root Disease should be able to work on them. It is a slow process, however.

Long story short: It can work on Alternates.

Verdict

Stats

We have finally made it here. We will see if the false angel or the living planet will come on top. Looking at stats, this is actually pretty easy to dissect. First off, for strength, this is easy. While Gabriel is a crafty being, he is no match for The Iris's planet-level power, which has done things like creating the Red Spot on Jupiter and mutating Neptune. And since we concluded Gabriel doesn't scale to God, this wasn't really close. For durability, however, it gets a little tricky. Both are immensely durable, as Gabriel is Satan himself, who is comparable to angels, while The Iris is an ACTUAL PLANET. While it would be hard to damage Gabriel, it would probably be easier for The Iris to do lasting damage to him rather than for Gabriel to be able to damage The Iris. For speed, this is relatively simple. Both are sort of equal in terms of speed. Due to the vagueness of both their series, it is hard to actually get a speed feat for any of them. We do know that both seemingly are able to teleport around. That would put them on equal footing.

In conclusion, the Iris gets Strength and Durability, while they tie in Speed.

Powers/Abilities

This is probably the hardest part about both of them. Both have pretty similar abilities. Though one of Gabriel's main wincons, which is M.A.D, probably won't affect The Iris. It could reasonably work against his minions, but it most likely wouldn't work on The Iris. Think about it. Why does it work on humans? Because our mind cannot comprehend this knowledge! Even then, some humans can resist it, so it can't be that far-fetched that The Iris could resist it as well. Not to mention that M.A.D mainly takes advantage of belief in religion, philosophies, and fear. The Iris does not possess any of those weaknesses. Another wincon for Gabriel would be sending the Iris to the infinite desert. While this could work, the Iris could just teleport out. Then we have the Iris' main wincon, which is to inflict Deep Root Disease. While Gabriel can potentially exist on multiple spectrums like his creations, Alternates have a physical form, which can be affected by things such as bullets. It should be reasonable that Gabriel can be affected by the same things. With that, Deep Root Disease should work on him and incapacitate him.

The Iris gets Powers/Abilities.

Tertiary Factors

Now, this section should be pretty easy to figure out. In terms of intelligence, while the Iris has been corrupting planets for some time now, Gabriel has existed since the beginning of time and has been deceiving humanity from the start. Along with the fact that he has more cosmic awareness, as he knows the deepest things within the universe. This can also apply to their experience, in which Gabriel has had more time existing (presumably) than the Iris, and finally, for skill, Gabriel pretty much has this too. He plans ahead of time for certain things, while the Iris pretty much has a "send troops. Infect planet. Onto next one" mindset.

Gabriel takes Intelligence, Experience, and Skill.

Armies

Now, another thing to consider is their armies. It mostly is just Woodcrawlers and Gardeners vs The Alternates. One thing to get out of the way is that Woodcrawlers and Gardeners pretty much stat-stomp Alternates badly. But that doesn't mean it's the end of the discussion. Alternates could take out most of the Woodcrawlers with M.A.D, since Woodcrawlers would probably be susceptible to it. But alternatively (pun not intended), Alternates can be affected by Deep Root Disease. Although it is a much slower process. For heavier hitters, the Intruder is basically a non-factor in this fight cause there is not really any technology he could use to be a part of this fight. He could spawn more Alternates, but that requires imagination to activate, and in a fight to the death, that won't happen. On the other hand, the Wretch is a major player, as it could absorb Alternates into its body to take them out of the fight by incapacitating them.

But this is where it gets interesting. This fight...probably won't be a short fight. This fight would be A LONG ONE. It would probably just be Woodcrawlers playing the long game by tunneling underground and slowly infecting the planet with Deep Root Disease to fully mutate it. Alternates are susceptible to Deep Root Disease, so it would take most to all of them out. Eventually, Gabriel would be the only one left. And soon, the Iris and its minions would overrun Gabriel.

The Iris takes Armies.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Gabriel

Advantages:

  • Has better intelligence and skill
  • More experience overall
  • More powers and abilities...
  • Incorporeality makes it harder to kill
  • More variety in army
  • Deceiver Supreme
  • Has a fire voice actor...

Equal:

  • Has equal speed
  • Has equal combat capabilities

Disadvantages:

  • Less powerful
  • Less durable
  • ...But all are useless
  • Has no counter to Deep Root Disease
  • Less powerful army
  • Victim to 90% of his matchups
  • ...But now he is back to text-to-speech

The Iris

Advantages:

  • More powerful
  • More durable
  • Resists Gabriel's abilities and powers (including M.A.D)
  • Deep Root Disease is a more effective tool
  • A more powerful army
  • Army wins the long game
  • Cool concept
  • Drops some of the most fire lines in all of Analog Horror

Equal:

  • Has equal speed
  • Has equal combat capabilities

Disadvantages:

Gabriel and his army are impressive and terrifying at what they do, in which they have multiple ways of bypassing durability with M.A.D, and ways of avoiding attacks through existing on multiple spectrums, but the Iris and his army are honestly too strong and too much to handle. The Iris' army can pretty much counter the Alternates' M.A.D with Deep Root Disease, in which it would incapacitate a large chunk of the army. Even then, they could just infect the planet themselves to get rid of the playing field entirely. With no way to hurt the Iris and with his army gone, Gabriel is a sitting duck. It's only a matter of time before he is quickly overwhelmed and succumbs to Deep Root Disease. Gabriel may be an all-powerful being, but angels eventually fall, and all that is left is a staring eye.

The Winner is The Iris

This was my first Vs. Blog, and I hope you all enjoyed! I did this cause I love these two series SO MUCH. And these guys being in a fight together just made me love this matchup even more, as it is pretty debatable! This matchup is also relatively simple to dissect vs-wise. I may do more blogs in the future, so stay tuned. Goodbye!
